Democracy Defenders,
Historians have a term for how empires keep their populations complacent in the midst of war, repression and austerity. They call it Bread and Circus: just enough food to stave off revolts and enough entertainment to keep folks distracted.
We've had more than our fair share of this tactic in the last while, and the crew at Move to Amend is sick and tired of it!
We're rising up and resisting corporate rule, pushing onward to a ballot victory in November, and we intend to have some fun doing it.
This time, though, we're taking a page from our opponent's book. We've turned Bread and Circus on its head: feeding people baguettes while edu-taining them about the wily corporate elite.
We've built an eye-bendingly beautfiul traveling Bread and Circus democracy wagon that will roll through the streets performing plays on the history and consequence of corporate rule and what Move to Amend intends to do about it. After the performances, we'll eat bread together and talk about the campaign.
And after all our hard work, we're ready to roll.
We debut this Friday at the Granary District block party, and we need supporters there to join us! We'll cruis in on bikes and will need a cheering crowd.
